St. Philips Moravian Church
Consecrated December 15, 1861, St. Philips African Moravian Church is the oldest African American church standing in North Carolina. Freedom was announced in the church on May 21, 1865, by a Union Army cavalry chaplain. Join us as we celebrate the African Moravian legacy.

150th Anniversary of the African Moravian Brick Church
The celebration of the oldest standing African American church in North Carolina kicked-off on Thursday, December 15, 2011 and will continue throughout 2012. The celebration will culminate in December with a printing of memories from individuals!
