Candlelight Tours: “Putzing” Through Salem
November 17, 18, 24, 25
December 1, 2, 8, 15, 16, 21, 23
Treat yourself to a very special Christmas night out in Old Salem.
In the Spring of 2017, Old Salem found something amazing. While investigating the old pottery kiln site on Main Street, archaeologist found a tiny lamb made out of clay. It fits snugly in a child’s hand. Join us in a search for why it was needed, how it was made, and what was it used for.
Grab your candle lantern and follow us through the decorated streets of Old Salem as we trace the history of the little lamb, visit the wood joiners workshop as they make Christmas decorations, get your hands dirty from clay in the pottery, peek in some residents’ windows, visit our friends in the 1767 Miksch House, and finally end up warm and cozy by the fire with some freshly baked treats. At the end of the evening, you will understand why this will become a “must do” annual event for you and your family.
In order for us to keep this experience intimate and meaningful, we limit the number of guests to 15 per gathering. These experiences usually sell out quickly and we have limited availability.
$50 per person (includes a take-home replica of Old Salem’s baby lamb made by our own potters!)
Space is limited and pre-registration is required (walk-ups cannot be accommodated). Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a registered adult.
