Winter

In the heat of late summer and into early fall, the garden is planted with vegetables and grains that will grow through the winter. Transplanted seedlings or direct seeding may be used at planting time, depending on the crop, with attention to watering especially important in establishing the young plants during a typically dry time of year.

These cold hardy plants continue to grow and produce through the winter season, with frost piquing the flavor of many.
