Hands-on Activities

Hands-on Activities - Building Image

At Old Salem Museums & Gardens, history comes alive during our hands-on activities:

- Experience life as a resident two hundred years ago.

- Refine your manners during a 19th century deportment lesson or learn a little French, German and Latin, just like school children in Salem.

- Try your hand at the German art form of Scherenschnitte, an intricate paper-cutting craft or create your own beautiful botanical watercolor painting.

- Get the chance to write with a quill pen or play games on the square.

Explore these and many other historically based activities during your visit to Old Salem Museums & Gardens.

Scheduled hands-on activities may vary.  Activities take place Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Vierling Barn (10:30am - 12:00pm & 1:00pm - 2:30pm) from October to December 15, 2011 and from March through July 2012.
