African American Programs

program_jazzPrograms at the St. Philips Heritage Center are designed to provide a platform for the rich cultural heritage of African Americans, stimulate intellectual thought and reach out to children and families. Much of the programming, which is an adjunct of historical records, is meant to illuminate Black history not only in the church town of Salem, but in America. Educational programs include lectures, oratorical contests, films and book signings. Social programs include Moravian lovefeasts, worship services and various socials. Musical programs include Negro Spirituals, Jazz and Gospel and other cultural music.
