Old Salem Museums & Gardens was one of 473 institutions across the country awarded a Created Equal: America’s Civil Rights Struggle film set by the National Endowment for the Humanities. The films chronicle the history of the civil rights movement, marking the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation and the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington.

The Created Equal film series is made possible through a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, as part of its Bridging Cultures initiative, in partnership with the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.
