WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (March x, __ 2015) – Old Salem Museum & Gardens is pleased to announce that the Old Salem Cobblestone Farmers Market, a program of American Communities Trust, will return to the historic district on Saturday, April 18. The market will take place every Saturday through November 21 from 9 a.m. until noon.
In addition, Cobblestone Farmers Market on Trade will take place every Wednesday beginning on May 6 from 3:30p.m. until 6:30p.m. under the patio at Mary’s Gourmet Diner, located at 723 N. Trade Street.
The Old Salem Cobblestone Farmers Market is Winston-Salem’s only Saturday morning fully vetted, sustainable producers only farmers market. It is strategically placed in Old Salem, the heart of our city, where the tradition of fresh, local farm products brought into town began over 200 years ago. Cash and check are the principle methods of payment and many vendors accept credit cards via the Smartphone App Square. An ATM machine is available on site. In addition SNAP/EBT and WIC are accepted. The market will feature a wide variety of seasonal vegetables, fruits, meats, cheeses, breads, coffee, plants, and much more.
The Old Salem Cobblestone Farmers Market is a partnership between Old Salem Museums & Gardens and American Communities Trust (ACT), a national community development partner dedicated to “building social impact” in urban and low-income communities across the U.S. The Old Salem Cobblestone Farmers Market was founded and is managed by Beta Verde LLC, which is owned by Margaret Norfleet Neff and Salem Neff.
Old Salem Cobblestone Farmers Market will host 30-35 vendors from Forsyth and ten surrounding counties, many of whom also take part in the Cobblestone Market on Trade. The Old Salem Cobblestone Farmers Market, visible from Old Salem Road, will be located next to the Single Brothers’ Garden which is at Old Salem Road and Academy Street, and easily accessed by foot, bus, and car. There is a gravel parking lot adjacent to the market area as well as side streets, and additional parking is available at the Old Salem Visitor Center.
