DESCRIPTION: Round band box covered in blue print wallpaper: Lid and box in good condition; inside are fragments of several Easter eggs, and four whole ones–one is purple with yellow wax “stars” and is dated 1930, one is blue with yellow wax decoration and dated 1930, one is red and dated 1861, and one is brown and white with an eagle on the white side.

FORM: “Bandboxes” like this one were used to hold a variety of household objects. Often made with fragments of wallpaper, they sometimes provide the only surviving examples of particular period wallpapers.
