Description:
Small Berlin needlework pattern of a blue, yellow and pink floral wreath in the center; the pattern is on paper with a grid; the gris is painted each square accordingly. The paper is adhered to cardstock with blue and red marbled paper. Written in ink beneath the wreath, “Lisetta C. Meinung / Salem / NC.” Printed at the bottom in German is the pattern “No. 43.” The “No. 2” is written int he upper left corner in pencil.
History:
Lisetta Caroline Meinung was born January 8 1812 and died July 25, 1855. She was a teacher at Salem Girls School from 1830 to 1844. She never married. Her parents were Friedrich Christian Meinung and Johanna Elizabeth Praezel.
