Paint-decorated chest, original surface with bold grain painting overall, small beaded edge along top of drawer fronts, round wooden drawer pulls attached by screws, iron locks, four finely dovetailed drawers, bottoms beveled to fit in grooves on sides and nailed in rear, turned and ebonized feet, three horizontal backboards beveled on sides and top and slid into grooves and nailed at base of case.

“C.A. Benbow” (probably the owner) is written in pencil on one of the drawer runners on the left side.
