Description:

DESCRIPTION: This clavichord has black whole tone keys and ivory half tone keys. It has three drawers. Instrument Measurements: H. 6 3/4; W. 60 5/8; D. 17 3/4.

History:
This clavichord was owned by J. Gottlieb Sides who (according to the accession card) was the mayor of Salem soon after the war between the states.

The case of this clavichord was made in the Single Brothers’ Joinery when it was under the mastership of Johannes Krause. The maker of the enclosed clavichord is unknown.
