Description:
These iron hinges were found in the cellar of the 1847 Cape Fear bank building on lot 54 in Salem. The hinges had probably been removed from the original 1783 house that stood on the lot. The owner and builder of the original house, Johannes Reuz (1752-1810) was a hatmaker and roadmaster.

DESCRIPTION: Pair of “ram’s horn” shaped hinges.

History:
These hinges found in cellar of the Cape Fear Bank Building, in use on an old 4-panel door of the Reuz House period, 1783, and thought to have been from the original house on the lot.
