Description:
An ironing machine, made of wood, used for ironing or pressing flat work. The upper part of the carriage was weighted down with stones and rolled over the article to be ironed.
History:
LABEL NOTES: This mangle was a wooden iron machine used for ironing or pressing flat work. The upper part of the carriage was weighted down with stones, and rolled over the article to be ironed. This machine was made about 1780-85 and used until about 1853 in the Sisters’ House.
