Description:
Piecework quilt. Quotes in handwritten black ink in center rectangles. Lining brown and cream stripe; hemming tape black with brown and red leaves.
History:
This coverlet was made by Lisetta Maria Fries, m.n. Vogler, for one of her daughters. Mrs. Archie K. Davis says that this quilt is one of 3 similar quilts made by Lisetta Vogler Fries (1820-1903). One quilt was made for her daughter Mary Fries (great aunt of Mrs. Davis). Amy Fries married Rufus Patterson. A second quilt was made for Emma Fries (Mrs. H.T. Bahnson-grandmother of Mrs. Davis). A third quilt like this is currently owned by Mrs. Davis. May 1974.
