DESCRIPTION: Oil on canvas ( or possibly tempora) portrait thought to be Rudolf Christ (1750-1833) by unknown artist. Painted either in North Carolina or Pennsylvania, it descended in the Christ family. Subject is wearing a brown waistcoat and a white neckerchief. Subject has brown eyes, full cheeks, and a deeply pointed widow’s peak at his hairline. Frame is early and may be original.
History:
PROVENANCE: Descended in the Christ/ Keehln family

HISTORY: Christ was a master potter in Bethabra from 1786 to 1789 and in Salem from between 1789 and 1821. He is the father of Jacob Rudolf Crist. HOA: 11″; WOA: 8″
