Description:
This press-molded bird figurine is lead-glazed earthenware with mottled green glaze. The bird has applied molded wings (wing mold in OS collection.); and applied to base. The bird is looking back over its left proper left wing. Base is chipped on both ends and portion of tail is missing; minor glaze loss on wings and neck; has a small fissure on the back from firing process. Bird figures of this type were probably intended as toys. (Ceramics in America, p. 122).
