Description:
Half-stock percussion rifle. Two spurs on rear trigger guard extension. Double-set triggers. Inscript on lock with engraved birds and designs, rotted wood surrounding it. Brass patchbox with door ajar and no piercings. Pin escutcheons. Toe plate extends to rear trigger guard extension. High moulded edge of cheek piece with incised line. Two screws on barrel tang. Checkering work on wrist. No ramrod. High comb with incised line. Inscript on barrel behind first sight. Octagon barrel inside and out with slight grooving.
History:
G. Foltz is stamped on the barrel of this light iron-mounted half stock percussion rifle. The iron-mounted double spur trigger guard and the incised line running along the comb show Salem School characteristics.
