DESCRIPTION: Springerle rolling pin with 8 carved floral designs, and one carved eagle. Rolling pin is signed with Vogler’s name and it is dated.
History:
LABEL: It was very unusual for Salem furniture or gunstocks to have carved decoration, but John Vogler, the Salem gunsmith and silversmith was talented with his carving tools as demonstrated by this rolling pin used for making springerle cookies (Bivins and Welshimer, pg. 31-32).
