A verse written on paper in brown ink within a circular wreath of dark pink roses and green leaves. The verse is in German script except the name H.Kluge at top and “H. Kluge to her Friend Christina Spach” at the base.

Donor is descended from Christina Spach who married John Vogler. “H. Kluge,” is Henrietta Kluge, daughter of Johann Peter Kluge, who arrived with parents in Salem in Oct. 1807, taught school at Bethabara, then became Bethabara minister. Henrietta was educated in Salem and went to Graceham, Maryland, to visit her parents in 1821. She did not return to Salem.
