Description
After visitors from experimental Queensware potteries in South Carolina visited the Moravian potters in the 1770’s, the Moravians began making their own Queensware pieces. The slip decoration you see simulates tortoiseshell decoration that was popular in the eighteenth century. Our reproduction platter was created by the contemporary potters at Old Salem Museums & Gardens. It measures 10.5″ in diameter and the glazes used are lead-free, making the platter food-safe. Hand washing only is strongly recommended. Your platter will arrive boxed with a “Handcrafted Salem 1766” tag.
