Description
Our eighteenth-century reproduction black walnut lanterns are handcrafted by the joiners of Old Salem and they use the same tools and techniques employed two-and-a-half centuries ago. Everyone had this candle lantern at their disposal in the eighteenth century. It would have been the most trusted means of lighting your way from house-to-house if visiting in the dark, and we still use these lanterns today in the historic district during seasonal nighttime events. The original was kept in the 1771 Miksch house for several decades. Each lantern measures approximately 12″ x 5.375″ x 5.375″ and will arrive in a gift box with a “Handcrafted Salem 1766″ tag. The 6.5” candle pictured is not included.
