What are Old Salem’s hours?

All of our historic museum buildings as well as the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts and Visitor Center are open Wednesday – Saturday, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We are closed for the month of January.

How much are tickets?

Visit our Ticket Information page here or by visiting oldsalem.org/ticket-information for the most up-to-date pricing of all of our ticketed programs and admission.

Can tickets be purchased in advance?

Yes! Advance All-In-One Tickets for visiting Old Salem can be purchased here, as well as on-site at the Visitor Center, Winkler Bakery, and MESDA. Tickets give visitors access to all of our historic interpreted buildings, including the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDAs) Self-Guided Galleries.

Do I need a ticket to shop at the retail stores?

You do not need a ticket to visit the Winkler Bakery or the gift shop in the Visitor Center! If you are looking for a specific item, please give the Visitor Center a call at (336) 721-7350 and one of our team members will be happy to help.

Policies

Photography and Video

We welcome all visitors to take non-flash photography during your visit of our museum buildings and historic district streetscape!
For professional/commercial photographers, please visit our Photography page here or at oldsalem.org/photography for permit information and guidelines.

Visiting Animals

Leashed pets are welcome to walk on Old Salem’s streets and sidewalks. Please pick up after your pets! We have many garbage cans masked as barrels on the sidewalks. The City of Winston-Salem can fine pet owners who do not obey the city-wide “leash law” ordinance.
Service animals, as defined by the ADA, are welcome at all times in our historic buildings and museums.

Prohibited

  • Firearms or weapons of any kind are not permitted on our property or inside any of our historic or museum buildings.
  • There is no smoking and/or vaping in any of our historic or museum buildings. Please be considerate of others when doing these activities outside.
  • Tampering with, defacing, damaging, or destroying museum exhibits or property will result in immediate removal from museum premises.
