Black History Month at Old Salem

Old Salem invites you to enjoy our celebration of Black History Month with themed interpretation throughout the historic district, plus specialty guided tours on Saturdays throughout the month!
Black History Guided Tours

When: Saturdays in February
1:30 PM – 3:00 PM
Where: Meet in front of the Tavern Museum
What: Explore the stories of some of Old Salem’s most impactful community members and witness their living legacies at Old Salem this month.
New Beginnings Garden Tours

When: February 14th & February 21st
11:30 AM & 1:00 PM
Where: Meet in front of the Garden Education Center
What: Join us in the gardens to learn what European Moravians, enslaved Africans, and Native Americans in this area were planting in their gardens.
Accessibility Note: These guided tours are outdoor walking tours on uneven streets. For visitors with mobility concerns, or in the event of inclement weather, there will continue to be Black history themed interpretation in all of the historic buildings.
