The Salem potters relied heavily on plaster molds to mass produce press-molded wares. Learn to make a plaster mold for your own clay-molding creations. This is a beginner level class for participants who use any sort of clay, from modeling clay to pottery clay.

Supply List:

If you would like to follow along with the activity at home, you will need:

  • A bandana or mask
  • Two large bowls or buckets
  • A large measuring cup
  • Plaster of Paris
  • Access to water
  • A towel
  • Petroleum Jelly or Mineral Oil
  • A plastic knife
  • A small object from which you can pattern your mold
  • A disposable container that can easily fit the object. (Ziploc or Gladware containers are great)
