The Salem potters relied heavily on plaster molds to mass produce press-molded wares. Learn to make a plaster mold for your own clay-molding creations. This is a beginner level class for participants who use any sort of clay, from modeling clay to pottery clay.
Supply List:
If you would like to follow along with the activity at home, you will need:
- A bandana or mask
- Two large bowls or buckets
- A large measuring cup
- Plaster of Paris
- Access to water
- A towel
- Petroleum Jelly or Mineral Oil
- A plastic knife
- A small object from which you can pattern your mold
- A disposable container that can easily fit the object. (Ziploc or Gladware containers are great)
