A Celtic Christmas with CandelFirth
Sharing the season’s cheer and joy, CandelFirth (Randy and Susie Firth Candelaria) will be bringing a selection of Christmas music from the old countries, along with other Celtic tunes and original compositions on a variety of instruments including Celtic harp, Irish bouzouki, penny whistle, flute, fiddle, hurdy gurdy and… electronic bagpipes???
CandelFirth is a musical duo that explores traditional Celtic music through unique rhythms, arrangements and expressions. Randel Candelaria (fiddle, guitar, recorder, bodhran & octave mandolin) has been playing Celtic music for over 30 years with a number of bands including Naomi’s Fancy (having the distinction of performing for a US presidential visit) and the Celthix (which opened up for the Tannahill Weavers on two evenings), and has recently played in pubs across Ireland including sessions with Friar’s Green and the legendary Irish group De Danann. Susie Firth Cooper owns and has played on a variety of harps for over 20 years and performs on flute, penny whistle, djembe and Native American flutes. She has been a solo artist for years and has performed most recently with the band Ashgrove. Her love for Celtic music has extended for the past 30 years or more. Both have joined together to bring their unique approaches and dedication of the music of the British Isles in a blended and dynamic presentation reflecting their appreciation and fondness for the Celtic musical tradition
