Winter Hands-on Workshop: Textile & Sampler Behind the Scenes Exploration

Saturday, February 16, 2019 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM Museums of Early South Decorative Arts at the Horton Museum Center

Workshop Description:  Put on your white gloves for a special look at the work of our youngest artists.  In this special tour, you will explore MESDA’s amazing collection of Southern needlework including rarely seen samplers in our Textile Storage area. Stitched by girls as young as six years old, these accomplishments were wrought under the direction of a teacher or family member.  Wintry evenings by the fire were the perfect setting for these lessons in stitches and letters. Experience history hands-on!

Cost:  This fundraising event is $50 per person for Textile & Sampler Exploration (Workshop only).  Please see our CORE INITIATIVES to learn about our educational mission.

Workshop Location:  Museum of Early Southern Decorative Art.  Free parking at the Old Salem Visitor Center, 900 Old Salem Road.  Walk across the Heritage Bridge to the Horton Museum Center.
